Roof Square Footage From Your Address

Enter your address, trace the outline of your roof on the satellite image, and we'll calculate the total square footage and the number of roofing “squares” — the unit contractors actually use. No signup, no email.

We use your address only to center the satellite map. Nothing is saved or sent anywhere.

How The Roof Measurement Works

When you click the corners of your roof on the satellite image, we calculate the ground-projected polygon area in square feet. A flat aerial photo only sees the roof's footprint, though — the actual roof surface is bigger because of its slope. We multiply by a pitch factor depending on how steep your roof is:

  • Low slope (≈3:12 or flatter) — multiplier of about 1.06
  • Medium slope (≈6:12, the most common Denver roof) — multiplier of about 1.12
  • Steep slope (≈9:12 or steeper) — multiplier of about 1.25

We also convert the total into roofing squares — one square = 100 sq ft. That's how contractors price materials, count shingle bundles, and quote labor.

This is a planning estimate, not a takeoff. A real proposal accounts for hips, valleys, ridge length, waste factor, penetrations (vents, skylights, chimneys), and tear-off depth. If you want the exact number, our crew measures it from the roof — free, no obligation.

A free, in-person inspection takes about 30 minutes and gives you a written estimate based on the exact measurements — hips, valleys, waste factor and all.
